Santos and Chavez’ honeymoon

Posted on December 4, 2010

In a note quite resigned, Oppenheimer acknowledges that things are going well between the presidents of Colombia and Venezuela. Why not before? The author does not say, but it seems that the controversial one was not the “dictator” Chávez but, rather, the “democratic” Uribe, after all.

On the other hand, it seems now the Colombians are tired of so much “intimate relationships” with the USA without any  practical economic retribution (as the Congress denied a Free Trade treaty until now) and so began to look favorably the Bolivarian partner.

Another good thing that Andrés do not tell but from here we wonder: have this honeymoon not had anything to do with the successful management of Nestor Kirchner at the head of UNASUR?. After all, just yesterday, the same two men were about to go to war because who remembers why.
