Haarde avoids hanging

Former Icelandic Prime Minister, Geir Haarde, can breathe at last. The court found him guilty of a minor charge while clearing him from others that could have mean up to two years in jail. So, the judges lost the chance to send a strong message to the world: business should be subservient to people and elected officials must be vigilant to ensure this. Politicians should be accountable for their actions not just by losing votes. For instance, when launching a war on false pretensions like “weapons of mass destruction”.

Even thought, this trial is a call to other rulers to think twice before  jump onto the bed together with bankers and corporations.
